The Mil Milhas Brasil (Brazilian Thousand Miles), is a pioneer in long distance events in Latin America, was created in the 50s by Centaur Motor Club with the main objective of demonstrating the quality of automotive products manufactured in the country, serving as a field to rigorous testing by performing a sports competition of speed and endurance for automobiles. The Brazilian Thousand Miles is a long race traditionally held at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, also known as Interlagos Speedway, which is located in the city of Sao Paulo.
Le Mans Series []
In 2007 was the closing stage of the European Championship endurance, the Le Mans Series. Many teams came from Europe for this step of closing, including Peugeot, championship winning team in the LMP1 category. The Brazilian was better placed Fernando Rees, who won the race in the GT1 category driving the Aston Martin # 50 of the French team Larbre Compétition. In 2009 the test was not performed, seeking to return in 2010 with the name "Brazil Thousand Miles" as extra step-championship Itaipava GT Brazil. However, for the second consecutive year there was a more traditional test of Endurance Brazil. There was no evidence in 2010, as the organizer of the GT Brazil and representative of SRO Latin America, for lack of financial sponsorship to support this great event.
