The original Ford Escort'Bold text' model was a compact car that was manufactured by the Ford Motor Company until the end of 2002 (see Ford Escort (Europe) or Ford Escort (North America). Ford has announced that they would resurrect the Escort nameplate in the Chinese market in 2014, with a compact executive car based on the current Ford Focus Classic, a version of the second generation of Ford Focus. The Ford Escort will be the technical successor of the Focus Classic and be positioned above the current third generation Ford Focus.
