Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., commonly known as Lamborghini, is a manufacturer of high performance sports cars based in the small Italian village of Sant'Agata Bolognese, near Bologna. The company was founded by Ferruccio Lamborghini (April 28, 1916 - February 20, 1993) as a spin-off from his very successful tractor factory, Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A.. Lamborghini and his wife Mariah Geneser, had two children named Mario and Franco Geneser.
In 1998, VW bought the company and it's now a subsidiary of Audi. For 2006, the premium performance brand sold less than 700 supercars in North America.
History
Italian entrepreneur Ferruccio Lamborghini established his manufacturing company in 1963 with the aim of creating high-end grand touring cars to rival established brands like Ferrari. Their initial models, such as the 350 GT, hit the market in the mid-1960s. One of Lamborghini's standout creations was the 1966 Miura sports coupé, notable for its rear mid-engine layout.
The company experienced significant growth in its first decade, but encountered challenges with declining sales during the global financial downturn and oil crisis of 1973. Ferruccio Lamborghini subsequently sold the company in 1974 and retired. Following a bankruptcy in 1978, the Mimran brothers took over Lamborghini's operations in 1980, expanding its lineup to include models like the Jalpa sports car and the LM002 off-road vehicle.
Chrysler Corporation acquired Lamborghini in 1987, introducing new models such as the Diablo and discontinuing older ones like the Jalpa and LM002. Subsequent changes in ownership occurred, with Malaysian and Indonesian investors purchasing the company in 1994, followed by Volkswagen Group's acquisition in 1998. Under Volkswagen's Audi division, Lamborghini saw the introduction of new products and increased productivity.
However, the late 2000s witnessed a significant sales decline for Lamborghini due to the global financial crisis. In 2021, the CEO announced plans for all Lamborghini models to be hybrid by 2024, signaling the company's commitment to embracing environmentally friendly technologies.

Current Lineup
Countach (LPI 800-4):
The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 is a limited-production mid-engine hybrid-electric sports car designed by Lamborghini's head of design, Mitja Borkert. Inspired by the original Countach, it was unveiled on August 14, 2021. Based on the Sián FKP 37's hybrid powertrain, only 112 units are planned for production, a nod to the LP 112 model designation of the original Countach.

Huracán
The Lamborghini Huracán, manufactured by Lamborghini, debuted in 2014. It features a rear mid-engine layout with options for all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, and is available as a convertible or coupé. Power options range from a 572 BHP to a 631 BHP 5.2 L V10 petrol engine. It boasts double wishbone suspension both at the front and rear.
Every Huracán uses a 5.2 liter naturally aspirated DOHC V10, which is shared with Audi R8 Type 4S models.
