Gemballa is a company based in Leonberg near Stuttgart, Germany. Opened by, and named after, Uwe Gemballa. Established in 1981.
They provide aftermarket parts mainly for Porsche.
A 600hp car held the lap record for road cars at the Nürburgring in the late 1990s once, and again in 2001 when Wolfgang Kaufmann lowered it to 7:32,52 min. It was since beaten by a Porsche Carrera GT, by less than a second.
Models
- Avalanche - The first model made by Gemballa originally based on the Porsche 930 Turbo, and now based on the Porsche 991 GT2 RS. The Avalanche debuted in 1985 with a price tag of 390,000 Deutsche Marks, or about $700,000. Almost immediately it became the must-have exotic for 80s era celebrities like rapper Vanilla Ice. He even mentioned the car in the lyrics for one of his songs: "Of course a Vanilla rides the groove like a Gemballa Porsche." Each 930 donor car received bespoke body panels and interior upgrades fitted with the era's latest technologies.
- Cyrrus - The open-top version of the Avalanche debuting in 1986 and based on the Porsche 911. The Gemballa Cyrrus and it’s sister car the Avalanche are the vehicles that helped launch the German auto modifier into the centre of the world stage for outrageous bespoke cars, often costing over $500,000 USD apiece in 1980s money – that’s well over $1,000,000 now.
- Mirage - the classic fan-favorite of Gemballa debuting in 1986 alongside the Avalanche and Cyrrus and based on the Porsche 911. No doubt was this the most outrageously tuned Porsche 911 ever and it might still be, even after 25 years. A few years before Gemballa already left the public in awe with the Gemballa Avalanche, also based on the 930 model Porsche 911 Turbo. That car evolved from merely just a widebody 911 Turbo at it's debut in 1984 into a high-tech street-racer with gadgets like cameras in stead of rear-view mirrors and the ultimate in sound-systems. If the "Gemballa Avalache" was the king, the "Gemballa Mirage" was the emperor and the "Gemballa Cyrrus" the little prince.
- Mirage GT - Debuting in 2006 as an updated version of the original Mirage and based on Porsche's Carrera GT. Rumors suggested that when the car was produced it would have upwards of 800 hp; however, the Mirage GT's only performance modification is an exhaust system which boosts power to 645 hp. Company owner Uwe Gemballa says a twin-turbo version of the Porsche Supercar is in the works. Modified Luxury & Exotics magazine described the unveiling of the car as, "one of the most highly anticipated moments the aftermarket has been witness to." They concluded by saying that, "It goes without saying that the Gemballa Mirage GT is one of the finest automobiles we've ever featured."
Gemballa Avalanche GTR800 EVO-R is a car based on the current 911 (997) GT2. Like the title suggests, this hypercar produces about 800 hp thanks to two turbochargers and highly modified engine components. Not much information is available at the moment but there are some pictures released at www.gemballa.com, the Gemballa website.
Gemballa also has a modification based on the Porsche 957 Cayenne Turbo. This produces around 750 brake horsepower. The modification is called GT 750 Aero 3. This modification is also available for the Cayenne's predecessor 955 turbo. The tune-up kit features exterior modification to enhance aerodynamic performance. Engine tuning is carried through revised turbochargers, coolers (oil and pressurized air IC) and a large collection of engine components including pistons and seals.

On the 17th of February, 2010, it was reported that Gemballa's founder, Uwe Gemballa has gone missing in Johannesburg, South Africa. According to reports, Gemballa, 54, was on a business trip when he went missing.
Trivia
Different vehicles from the Gemballa car company can be found in the video games "Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition" and "Midnight Club: Dub Edition Remix". These games are for the PlayStation 2, PSP, and Xbox video game systems. A Gemballa can also be found in ToCA Race Driver 3. In Tokyo Xtreme Racer: 3, Uwe and his son Ken are two of the various "Wanderer" racers driving around.
