Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept 2004 006

George Saridakis is a Greek Industrial Designer working for the Ford Motor Company. His most notable work has been the Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept.

Biography[]

Saridakis was born on the island of Crete in Greece in 1971 to a Greek father and Scottish mother. He lived and went to school in Crete for 10 years before moving with his family to Scotland. Later, he earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Glasgow University along with a Masters in Quality Management. While still working on his postgraduate degree, Saridakis decided to exercise his artistic side and prepared a portfolio of work, which he submitted to the Royal College of Art in London. He was accepted by the prestigious design school and studied Vehicle Design under Ken Greenley. Two years later, he graduated with a Master of Design (MDes) from the RCA. Saridakis was immediately hired by Toyota in 1997, working in their European studio in Brussels. Three years later, he joined Ford and in 2002, he moved to Southern California to work in Lincoln-Mercury Design and later Advance Design.
