The Alfa Romeo 159 was a compact executive car produced by the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo since 2005.

The 159 was introduced in production form at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show as a replacement for the successful Alfa Romeo 156. The Giugiaro-designed sedan uses the GM/Fiat Premium platform, shared with the Brera, Spyder, and Kamal.

Stylistically, the 159 was designed to share features with the Maserati Quattroporte introduced in 2004. The 159 was available with either front or four-wheel drive, called Q4.The AWD system utilised Torsen type C twin differential, and was originally only available with 3.2 L V6 engine.

A Sportwagon variant was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2006. In 2007, Alfa Romeo released an AWD diesel model producing 210PS (157kw, 207HP).

Alfa Romeo discontinued the 159 in 2011.

Recent Changes[]

  • For MY 2011 the 159 received some some updates in the form of new upholstery and trim options, and the introduction of four new equipment packages similar to those offered on the Giulietta and MiTo hatchbacks - Comfort Pack, Sport Pack, Comfort Plus Pack and TI Plus Pack.
  • For MY 2009, the 159 received a very subtle facelift[1], as well as a new turbocharged 1.75L petrol engine called 'TBi', with a power output of 200PS (147kW, 197hp) and 320Nm (236lbft) of torque. This engine would eventually replace the 2.2 and 1.9 JTS units. Similarly, a new 170PS (125kW, 168hp) JTDm was introduced to the lineup.
