Recent Changes

• For 2011, the G37 Coupe and Convertible gets a mid-cycle facelift and new pricing. [1]

• MY 2011 marks the arrival of Infiniti's performance division IPL. The first fruit borne out of the new division is the IPL G Coupe, a slightly more aggressive version of the standard G37S. The 3.7 litre DOHC 24-valve VQ37HR V6 has been tuned to produce 348 hp @ 7400 rpm and 276 lb-ft torque @ 5200 rpm and is mated to a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with short-throw shifter or 7-speed automatic transmission with solid magnesium paddle shifters. Underneath, the suspension bits have also been fiddled resulting in increased spring rates by 20 per cent up front and 10 per cent at the back. The sport manifesto is also evident in the steering system as it has been made quicker and the addition of the firm's Viscous Limited-Slip Differential. Stopping is now taken care of larger 4-wheel ventilated disc sport brakes with aluminum-alloy 4-piston opposed front brake calipers / 2-piston opposed rear calipers. Besides performance, the IPL G comes with special color treatments and equipment to distinguish it from pedestrian Gs.[2][3]

• The 2009 LA Auto Show played host to the unveiling of the the G37 sedan's first mid-cycle facelift. [4]

• Infiniti unveiled the G37 Coupe/Cabriolet at the 2008 LA Auto Show. The new car has a retractable hard-top that disappears in approximately 30 seconds. [5][6][7][8]

• For the Halloween-Christmas season of 2008, Infiniti has teamed up with retail outlet Bloomingdale's to produce a 200 unit limited edition variant of the as yet unreleased G37 Convertible. Mechanically similar to the standard version, the Bloomingdale's G37 will be differentiated by dark Platinum Graphite livery and Monaco Red leather upholstery as well as special 19-inch wheels and new grille. Inside, it will come with a touchscreen sat-nav and Bose Open Air sound system standard. Pricing has yet to be announced but it will start to go on sale on November 10th. [9]

Reliability

• RECALL ALERT: On Oct 15 2008, Infiniti issued a recall affecting 200,000 Infinitis including about 60,000 2007 and 2008 EX35s, G35 Sedans and G37 coupes due to a faulty front passenger side airbag sensor that could fail to detect the presence of a passenger, thus, preventing the deployment of the airbag. Owners are urged to contact 1-800-662-6200 or their nearest dealer to get the system replace free of charge. [10]
