The Ferrari 360 Modena was the name given to three models of Ferrari cars: the Ferrari 360 Modena, an enclosed two-door coupe; the Ferrari 360 Spider, a two-door convertible; and the Ferrari Challenge Stradale, the bare-bones race-specific version of the 360 Modena. The Ferrari 360 Modena has a 3.6 litre V8 engine producing over 300 kW (400bhp) of power and accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 secs. All have eight-cylinder engines and aluminum chassis. The 360 was generally well-received. However, some reviewers criticized its handling at the limit as twitchy, similar to its predecessors, the Ferrari 348 & the Ferrari F355. One real world example of this was when a footballer named Ian Wright crashed his 360 with a mistimed downshift while slowing down on an uphill road.

The 360 also served as the basis for its replacement, the Ferrari F430 (internally referred to as the evoluzione or evo) which came out in 2004.

360 Modena[]

Description[]

Intended as the successor to the F355, the 360 Modena (named after the town of Modena, the birthplace of Enzo Ferrari) features styling by Pininfarina and an improved mid-mounted V8 engine; it is the first production Ferrari to be constructed entirely of aluminium. Its six-speed gearbox is available as a manual or F1 electrohydraulic shift. The car went into production in 1999.

Challenge Stradale[]

Ferrari360challenge1

The 360 Challenge Stradale has carbon fibre wing mirrors that are smaller than those of the standard car

Description[]

The Ferrari tradition, epitomized by the F40 model, is one of stripped-down performance and not of luxury. This tradition has recently been let go in favor of the leather and ornamentation of the 360 Modena and 575M Maranello, but Ferrari returned to its roots for the Challenge Stradale, or CS. It is a two-door coupe and is essentially the 360 Modena from the outside, though its aerodynamics have been reworked slightly. The main differences are a stripped-out aluminum chassis (causing a significantly lighter vehicle), an upgraded 3.6-liter V8 engine, improved suspension and brakes, larger 19-inch wheels and tires, a Formula One-style sequential gearshift, and extensive use of Carbon fiber components.

It was officially introduced in March of 2003 at the Geneva International Motor Show and went into production shortly thereafter. It was usually sold in the colors Scuderia Red and Azzurro California.

Barchetta[]

Ferrari 360 Barchetta

This Ferrari 360 Barchetta is unique, and one-of-a-kind.

The Ferrari 360 Barchetta (serial number 120020) is a one-off based on the Ferrari 360 Spider which was commissioned by Gianni Agnelli in 2000 as a wedding present for the then Fiat chairman and president of Ferrari, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo. The car bears heavy resemblance to its donor with the only differences being the removal of the soft top system and roll bars, different engine cover and the addition of a visor in place of a windshield for better airflow over the car. Performance of the car remains the same as its donor and the car features Argento Nurburgring exterior paint with red pinstriping. The interior is black leather with cream fabric and features fabric seats with matching stitching, the words 360 Barchetta embroidered on the dashboard and a paddle-shift gearbox.
