The DKW - Fissore Vemag is a Brazilian automobile produced by Vemag between 1964 and 1967 , using chassis and drivetrain DKW ( represented in Brazil by Vemag ) and idealized body by Bodywork Fissore of Italy. Represented an attempt by Vemag entering a market of more sophisticated cars . [1] units in 2638 , according to Paulo Cesar Sandler (2006 ) , [2], or 2489 units produced according to Paulo Renato Arantes

At its launch in June 1964, was considered by the press as a lean automobile, practical, sober and elegant lines and offers wide visibility to the driver and his passenger . It was recently recalled in 2008 during the launch of the Fiat Siena , by the similarities of their lines and the location of headlights and taillights .

As the Quatro Rodas magazine , Fissore the cost at the time of its release Cr $ 6.95 million , or six million nine hundred and fifty thousand cruzeiros , about 25 % more expensive than a Belcar . This amount, date , amount to approximately R $ 115.6 thousand , one hundred and fifteen thousand, six hundred reais. [3]

History[]

In 1961 Vemag decided to enter the luxury car market, while seeking, thinking long term, finding technological alternatives to the models offered by DKW. Thus, contacts with Bodywork Fissore, Italy, specializing in the design of automotive bodies.

In 1962 Vemag received a prototype with an interesting aesthetic, but relatively poor in terms of interior trim. That same year the car was presented at the Motor Show.

In June 1964 it was finally released in the Brazilian market. It was the first Vemag model equipped with Lubrimat.

The model sold in the second half of 1965 underwent minor changes in the shape of the trunk lid. She went to the line of the fenders and becomes shorter, ending before the frieze placed in the midline of the vehicle.

The 1966 model received a new model for fuel tank, integrated into the bottom of the trunk. The fuel inlet was moved to the rear side of the vehicle, behind the plate. Moreover, now has a circulation of heated air, automatic return of the flash and front disc brakes as optional system.

In 1967 he suffered cosmetic changes in the front grille and the taillights, following roughly the modifications Belcar and Vemaguet. The electrical system has been adapted to 12V.

The history of the car come to a premature end later that year: absorption of DKW Volkswagen, nearly eleven years before finally being felt in Brazil. The Vemag closed its doors, taking with her all DKW line.

The controversial S engine[]

The vehicles produced by Vemag came equipped with engine 1000 cc since 1961, supplying the SAE 50CV 4500rpm. One way to differentiate the new model already on its release in 1964, was to select the engines that leave the production line providing power value above the expected average value.

Then it was announced that Fissore would be equipped with the engine S. But this engine was just like any other engine of that fitted to other models Vemag. Simply, when the test was performed dynamometer for quality control, the motor that provides more than 50CV would be selected for the Fissore .

Rarely these selected engines provided 60CV, most often the value was between 54HP and 56CV.2

It is worth saying that the information about the motor Fissore are controversial, because the engines " S " had known the inlet, transfer and exhaust worked , higher compression ratio (8:1) and carburetor orifices, diffusers and filter different air in relation to the engine 1000 " normal"   It was the same recipe used in the German Auto Union 1000S, thus justifying the name " S ". The Fissore still had shorter differential ratio, which also resulted in gain agility.

The S engine was also used in Malzoni GT and Puma DKW, and also equip the last series of Belcar and Vemaguet, the S series, the end of 1967. The Belcar S tested by the 4 Rodas magazine in 1967 showed clearly higher than normal performance.

The Fissore four models[]

The chassis of Fissore received identification numbers composed by the letter " F " followed by six digits [6] These numbers indicate the order of making the copy on the production line , with the count begins at number "001000". Thus, the first Fissore received "F001000" ID, while the last received "F003637" identification.

The Fissore has changed little over the period in which it was produced. It is a car with extensive glazed area and subtle lines, with a few chrome. Offering good handling and good stability, but a power/weight ratio ungenerous.

Front Fissore 66

The classic front of Fissore , with four headlights and a grille with 7 ribs , suffered only a change between 1964 and 1966 . The front passed the traffic lights below the headlights central positions to positions that appear in this photo . Blinkers of fenders and emblem "DKW Vemag" on the engine hood are also shown.

It carries four people comfortably, with capacity for up to six passengers. It has two large doors that give free way to the rear seats. In panel brings instruments and typical models of Vemag accessories, a radio with four tracks and two speakers.

The front of the Fissore, a classic front, which appears in the photo to the left, has four headlights in two typical frames. Some models of Volkswagen early 70s wore very similar frames to frames that appear in the photo to the left. Only the 1967 model does not have these frames and has a slightly modified grille, surrounding and containing the four headlights.

The back of Fissore 1966 and 1967 . The model of the second half of 1965 also brings the fuel inlet on the right rear side. In the template, this entry is now placed behind the sign board. The 1967 model also receive new traffic lights.

The back has two taillights delicate design, including traffic lights aft as standard. (All other models Vemag and several cars of its era, including several models of the Beetle, the defendant had no traffic lights.) The other models Vemag had this "accessory" just as options. Only the 1967 model received different, wider and safer, rear taillights taillights similar to the 1967 model of Vemaguet .

Four models, might be identified very similar to each other, and the last, 1967 is what presents the main differences from earlier. The first model, Fissore 64, was sold in 1964 and the first half of 1965 until the month of August. The second model, Fissore 65, produced between September and December 1965, received a cover for the shortest portamalas, ending the line of the central frieze.

The first model includes the Fissore with chassis number to "F002216", while the second includes from the "F00217" to "F002424".

Models by the end of 1965 had the front traffic lights placed below the headlights, approximately placed in the midline of the frames of the headlights. All four models were placed in front flashers, integrated with friezes fenders.

The third model, 1966, received a new fuel tank, sympathetic to the bottom of portamalas, and had passed the entry of fuel behind the nameplate. This model also received new front taillights, which can be seen in this first photo session and in detail in the photo to the right, below, who remained in the following model.

The Model 1966 incorporated some measures to reduce weight and improve performance . The first was the format and layout of the new fuel tank. The cover portamalas, shorter, allowing better distribution of efforts over the bodywork at the rear break and hence lower weight of the structure. Furthermore, the glass had smaller thickness.

The fourth and final model , 1967, 12V electrical system, received modifications on the front grille and rear taillights, following the trend of aesthetic models this year. The emblem of front fenders remained similar to the one pictured at right, a model 66, but lost the coat. A new coat of arms was placed below the centerline, the fenders, between the wheels and doors.

All models relied on wheels with twelve windows for ventilation, present in all models of Vemag since 1964. The model Fissore 1966 and 1967 were as optional accessory disc brakes on the front wheels and in that case relied on appropriate wheels.

All models also relied on lights for signaling the opening of the doors, an "accessory" introduced by Fissore. In addition, the first model, until the end of 1965, which could optionally have two front instead of a single bank, these were reclining seats, other " accessory " introduced by Fissore.

The models 1966 and 1967 also relied on another option, a system of circulating hot air, a novelty among models Vemag. In models that relied on this option, there was a water pump attached to the alternator. There was also a panel to control this system, under the dashboard, and two air vents, the side panel.

The models 1966 and 1967 followed the other models of Vemag and come to rely on wheel "tapered", instead of the wheel, "plan", the previous models. With this new steering wheel, the covers of the steering bar levers were shortened and signaling conversion and drive lights also have been adapted.

The model 1966 brought yet another option, which soon had discontinued its production because it was not approved... the automatic return of the flasher. It was installed in some units and presented many operational problems. Currently, it is a fairly rare among auto parts Vemag item.

The Model 1966 includes Fissore with chassis number from "F002425" to "F003083", while the 1967 model includes Fissore from "F003084".

Finally, it is interesting to note that all models Fissore counted on Lubrimat, an automatic system for lubrication of two-stroke engine. The Fissore, incidentally, was the first model of Vemag equipped with this system.
